Problem Solution
No face is detected.
• The subject ’s face is obscured by s unglasses, a ha t, long hair, or other o bjects: Remove the o bstructions.
• The subject ’s face occupies onl y a small area of th e frame: Change the compositio n so that the sub-
ject’s face occupies a larger area of the frame (P 37).
• The subject ’s head is tilted or hori zontal: Ask the subjec t to hold their head straight.
• The camera is tilte d: Keep the camera level (P 18).
• The subject ’s face is poorly lit: Sh oot in bright light.
Wrong subject is se-
lected.
The selected subject is closer to the center of the frame than the main subje ct. R ecompose the
picture or turn face detection off and frame the pic ture using focus lock (P 37).
The flash does not fire.
• The flash is lower ed: Raise the flash (P 40).
• The flash is not ava ilable in the cu rrent shootin g mode: Choose a diff erent shooting mode (P 22).
• The camera is in sup er macro or cont inuous shooti ng mode: Turn super macro and continuous shooting
modes off (P 39).
• The battery is ex hausted: Charge the bat tery or insert a fully-charged sp are battery (P 9).
• The camera is in sil ent mode: Turn silent mode off (P 101).
• The flash is not ra ised: Raise the flash (P 40).
Some flash modes are
not available.
• The desired fla sh mode is not avail able in the cur rent shooting m ode: Choose a different sho oting mode
(P 22).
