Pictures are mottled.

• A slow shutter spee d is selected a t high temperat ures: This is normal and doe s not indicated a mal-

function.

• The camera has bee n used continuo usly at high temp eratures or a tem perature war ning is displaye d: Turn

the camera off and wait for it to cool down.

Sounds made by the

camera are recorded with

movies.

Intelligent Face Detection is on : Turn Intelligent Face Detection off (P 55).

Playback

Problem Solution

Pictures are grainy. The pictures were taken with a different make or model of camera.

Playback zoom unavail-

able. The picture has been saved at a, or is from another make or model of camer a (P 60).

No sound in voice memo

and movie playback.

• The camera is in sil ent mode: Turn silent mode off (P 101).

• Playback volume is t oo low: Adjust playback volume (P 104).

• The microphone w as obstruct ed: Hold the camera correc tly during recording (P 2).

• The speaker is obst ructed: Hold the c amera correctly during playback (P 2).

Selected pictures are not

deleted.

Some of the pictures selec ted for d eletion are protected. Remove protec tion using the device

with which it was originally applied (P 96).

File numbering is unex-

pectedly reset.

The battery-chamber cover was o pened while the camera was on. Turn the camera of f before

opening the battery-chamber cover (P 15).
