REMOTE ACCESS
This section explains how to use the handset, or any touch-tone phone, to
access the answering system using your 3-digit security code.
TIPS: When you access the answering system with a different touch-tone
phone, a voice menu guides you through the steps.
ACCESSING THE ANSWERING SYSTEM WITH THE HANDSET
1. Make sure your handset is in standby mode.
2. Press the format/answerer button to access the answering system. The
display shows ANSWERER REMOTE .
3. Press button 2 (play/stop) to play messages, or press the format/
answerer button to return to standby mode.
NOTE: After you access the answering system, use the marked handset keys
just as if you were pressing the corresponding buttons on the base (see
“Answering System Operation” for details on functions).
4. When you are finished reviewing your messages, press button 2 (play/
stop) to stop message playback, and then press the format/answerer
button to exit the ANSWERER REMOTE ACCESS mode.
SCREENING CALLS WITH THE HANDSET
You may use the handset to remotely screen calls.
1. Make sure the phone stops ringing and the answering system answers the call.
2. Press the format/answerer button to access the answering system. CALL
SCREENING is shown on the display.
3. Listen as the caller leaves a message.
4. Press the talk/call back button to speak to the caller, or press the format/
answerer button again to stop screening the call.
