There is a possibility to monitor the trip circuit continuity not only via its auxiliary contact 52/a, but also with auxiliary contact 52/b. This avoids the need to install a resistance in parallel with auxiliary 52/a. The correct connection is shown on FIGURE
The circuit works in a similar way to the one described in the previous section, but it uses both supervision inputs 15- 16 and
The advantage in this case is that circuit supervision with 52 open is more complete, as input V 52/b is used through contact 52/b, (that is closed when the breaker is open).
We must point out that in this scheme, the tripping contact, shown in the example as the CIO trip relay, can be the one in the relay (terminals 35 and 36), or be provided by another protection or by the parallel of several protections. This provides high flexibility in the use of this circuit.
The battery voltage can also be monitored, by using one of the standard digital inputs.
