SECT 2—INSTALLATION
NOTE: There are differences in installations depending on which type of door you have. These differences are explained throughout this section. Please note those steps which are applicable to your particular door.

There are two basic types of residential garage doors. They are:
SECTIONAL
panel and swivel on large
1.Determining header bracket location.
•Find center of door from side to side.
–Measure overall width of door. (example: 16 feet)
–Divide overall width by 2. (example: 16 ÷ 2 = 8 feet)
•Measure this distance from side of door and draw a pencil line vertically from the top of the door down approximately 1 foot. This is the centerline. Fig.
–Continue marking centerline on wall above door from top of door up approximately 1 foot. Fig.

Sectional doors may have one torsion spring (as shown) or two springs (one on each side).
Some older doors may have extension springs.
