Rectifying minor problems

Not every picture or sound problem is caused by a defect in your DVD Micro System. Defects can also be caused by leads having been accidentally pulled out, damaged discs and worn out batteries in the remote control. If the following measures do not do not rectify the problem, consult your authorised dealer.

Due to the difference in quality of the recording media and the quality of the recording itself, it can occasionally happen that a home-made disc cannot be read. This does not indicate a malfunction of the DVD Micro System.

Fault	Possible cause/remedy
The DVD Micro System cannot be switched	No electrical supply:
on.	Check the connection to the mains cable.
The DVD Micro System does not respond	Obstacles, used batteries:
to the remote control.	Remove all obstacles which could disturb the signal of the
	remote control.
	Test or replace the batteries of the remote control.
No picture or sound.	Wrong cable connection, the video or audio connection cable is
	faulty:
	Check the connections on the DVD Micro System and on the
	television.
	The MUTE function has been activated:
	Deactivate this function as described on page 28.
No sound from some loudspeakers, e.g.	Activate the test tone (see page 23). If you hear a signal from all
centre, surround or subwoofer.	the loudspeakers, then the loudspeaker setting and cabling are
	correct. In this case the multi-channel mode is set incorrectly or
	the inserted disc does not produce multi-channel sound.
	Check the multi-channel settings on the DVD Micro System.
	Check the loud speaker settings in the set-up menu.
No sound or insufficient bass tone coming	The subwoofer has been connected incorrectly:
from the subwoofer.	Check to make sure the subwoofer has been connected
	properly. Switch the phase angle of the subwoofer if necessary.
The subwoofer switches automatically to	The subwoofer automatically switches to standby mode if it has
standby mode.	not received an input signal for more than 10 minutes:
	Check the connections of the subwoofer cable.
The inserted disc does not play.	Make sure the printed side of the disc is facing upwards.
	Clean the disc. The DVD Micro System cannot read the inserted
	disc format. Check to see if the inserted DVD has the regional
	code 2.
	The parental lock settings prevent the playback of the disc:
	Alter the parental lock settings (see page 42).
Playback stop, music search, slow motion,	The relevant functions are not available with the inserted disc.
playback repeat or programmed playback
do not work.
No or inadequate MP3 playback.	The sampling frequency 44.1 kHz has not been observed:
	Burn the new MP3 CD observing the sampling frequency.
CD-Rs or CD-RWs are not being played	Faulty software or hardware settings during burning or the CD
back, or being played back incorrectly.	itself:

Distorted audio signal during FM reception.	Poor stereo reception:
	Correct the frequency manually, if necessary.
	Faulty antenna connection:
	Check the antenna connection.
