B. General Information

Fireplaces, as well as other woodburning appliances, have been used safely for many years. It has been our experi- ence that most problems are caused by improper installa- tion and operation of the fireplace. Make certain that instal- lation and operation of the fireplace system is in accordance with these instructions.

It is extremely important that the fire be supervised when- ever the fireplace is in use. It is also recommended that an annual inspection be performed on the fireplace system to determine if the flue system needs to be cleaned, or as in the case of any appliance, if minor repairs are required to maintain the system in top operating condition.

Warning! Risk of Fire! Keep combustible materials, gasoline and other flammable vapors and liquids clear of the fireplace.

Do NOT:

store flammable materials close to the fireplace

use gasoline, lantern fuel, kerosene, charcoal lighter fluid or similar liquids to start or “freshen up” a fire in this fireplace.

C.Baffle and Blanket Placement

INCORRECT POSITIONS

Ceramic Blanket and Baffle Board are NOT in contact with the back of the firebox.

Ceramic Blanket is NOT in contact with the back of the firebox and NOT even with the Baffle Board in the front.

Ensure correct baffle placement and replace baffle compo- nents if damaged or missing.

Firebox damage due to improper baffle placement is not covered by warranty. Operate the wood burning appliance with the baffle in the correct position only. Not doing so could result in:

Reduced efficiency

Overheating the chimney

• Overheating the rear of the firebox

D. Firebrick Placement

The firebox of your fireplace is lined with high quality firebrick, which has exceptional insulating properties. Do Not use a grate; simply build a fire on the firebox floor. Do not operate the fireplace without bricks. Make sure bricks are installed as shown in Section 4, page 24.
