Microsoft Windows NT/2000 Networks (TCP/IP or IPX/SPX)
Introduction
HP JetAdmin software (version 3.3 and above) has three components to install for Microsoft Windows NT. (Windows 2000 requires HP JetAdmin version 3.42.) The following components are discussed in this chapter:
●HP JetDirect Port
●HP Desktop Status (Microsoft Windows NT version 4.0 or above only)
●HP JetAdmin software
HP JetDirect Port
The HP JetDirect Port allows network administrators to connect a port to a network printer and to configure the HP JetDirect print server for that printer.
After assigning an HP JetDirect Port to a printer on a server, assign the printer one or more drivers and a share name. Users can then add remote printers to their Printers folders and specify the share name of the printer on the server. See the sections “Configuring Windows NT/2000 for Printing” and “Connecting to a Printer from a Client” in this chapter for more information.
