Recording TV Shows to DVDs

The Media Center PC includes several recording software programs for you to create CDs and DVDs. For more detailed information about recording CDs and DVDs, refer to “Creating (Burning) CDs” on page 119 and “Creating DVD Movies” on

page 137.

You can:

■Use RecordNow! to create music CDs and data CDs and DVDs.

■Use InterVideo WinDVD Creator to record your video and recorded TV programs to DVD or CDs.

About Copying Recorded TV Programs to DVD

You can use InterVideo WinDVD Creator to copy your recorded TV programs to DVD (select models only) for viewing and playing on your PC and in some set-top box DVD players.

With WinDVD Creator you can import your recorded TV programs that are automatically stored in your Shared Documents folder on your C: drive, and then record your recorded programs onto CDs and DVDs.

The recording quality determines the size of the file created for the recorded program. Best is the pre-set recording quality setting. A two-hour program

recorded set to Best produces a large file that does not fit on one DVD. The following table lists the recording quality and the estimated number of minutes that fit onto one DVD.

The InterVideo WinDVD Creator program shows you the available CD or DVD space.

You cannot change the recording quality of a program after it is recorded.

To change the recording quality setting

1 Click Start, and then click Media Center.

2 Click Settings, TV, Recorder, and then click Recording defaults.

3 Under Quality, select (+) or (–) to select a quality setting. Click Save to enter the change.
