3PAR Recovery Manager 3.0.2 for Microsoft SQL Server User’s Guide

5.1 Configuring the SQL Database

Recovery Manger for SQL only supports Microsoft SQL Server database files and transaction logs created on basic disks using the NTFS file system.

NOTE: 3PAR recommends that each database, as well as transaction log files, be allocated to separate volumes. This configuration provides the greatest flexibility when performing individual database backup and recovery, thus reducing the exposure to conflicts between databases. The snapshot volume restore would overwrite the other databases if there are two databases using the same volume.

5.2 Configuring Recovery Manager

Use the following information to assist you with configuring the Recovery Manager.

5.2.1 Installation Location

By default, the Recovery Manager installation path is:

C:\Program Files\3PAR\VCDBA\SQL

5.2.2 Search Path

After installation, you can instantly issue Recovery Manager commands through the CLI from any directory. Although the Recovery Manager executables are installed in a fixed location specified during installation, the location is automatically added to the Windows environment variable PATH.

5.2.3 Recovery Manager TCP/IP Port

By default, Recovery Manager for SQL uses port 9932 for cross-server communication. As long as port 9932 is open and is not used by other processes, no extra port configuration is necessary. However, if port 9932 is not available or is occupied by another system process, the system administrator must change the Recovery Manager TCP/IP port.

To change the Recovery Manager TCP/IP port:
