Viewing Cartography

In the Chart Views, there are several cartography-related functions that you can access using the keys on your control head.

Chart View with Cursor Present, shown with Optional-Purchase Navionics® Cartography

Panning: Use the 4-WAY Cu rsor Cont rol key t o mov e the chart a round on t he display i n t he d irection of the key being pressed. Wh en y ou do this, a bull's eye cursor is drawn at the center of the screen and is l inked to the boat by a gray line, even i f the b oat is o ff th e sc reen. At t he same time, the distance and bearing from the bo at t o t he cursor p osition and t he latitude/longitude coordinat es of the cursor ar e di splayed in th e up per i nfo boxes.

Zooming: Press the Plus (+) key to ZoomIn and the Minus (-) key to Zoom Out to see the cartography at different magnification levels. The zoom level is indicated on the left side of the display. If you zoom in beyond the available chart data, the display w ill go int o Overzoom mode whereby the l ast available chart dat a is amplified to reflect the level selected. If you zoom in so far that no cartography is available, a lat/long grid will be drawn instead.

Decluttered Waypoints: When two or more waypoints overlap, or are displayed close together on a chart view, the s creen will automatically declutter— waypoint names w ill short en and t he waypoint icons will change into sm all blue icons.

To view a Decluttered Waypoint at full size, use the 4-WAY Cursor Control key to move the cur sor onto a dec luttered waypoint icon. When the cursor snaps onto the icon, the full-size waypoint name and icon will be displayed. You can also press the ZOOM+ key until you can see the individual waypoints on the screen.
