Chapter 3. Point-of-Sale terminal service manual supplement

This chapter supplements the IBM 4693, 4694, 4695 Point-of-Sale Terminals:

Hardware Service Manual.

Messages

There are messages that are displayed or printed at the point-of-sale terminal to provide information about the fiscal printer:

v Power-On Reset v Tnnn

v Wnnn

v Ennn

Power-on reset messages

At power-on reset completion, a message is printed on the customer receipt station

to inform the operator of the fiscal unit status. If no message is printed, there may

be printer error interfering with the power-on reset. Refer to the terminal display for

guidance. For a listing of fiscal printer power-on reset messages, refer to the

service supplement IBM Fiscal Printers ± Return Codes and Power-Up Messages

for your country and printer model.

Tnnn messages

These messages are displayed or printed at the point-of-sale terminal when tests are running.

T0020 Request not valid, retry

Explanation: The test or utility request that was entered is not valid.

User Response: Re-enter the correct test or utility request.

T0050 RC=xxxxxxxx from main program

Explanation: A problem is detected within the operating system.

User Response: Type 0 and press S2 to stop the test and then re-run the test. If the problem remains, Refer to the Programming guide for your printer model your country's specific return codes. (See http://www.ibm.com/solutions/retail/store. Select support, then select publications.)

T0051 Return code = xxx

Explanation: A problem is detected by the fiscal unit.

User Response: Refer to DOS and 4690 Return code descriptions.

T7160 Fiscal unit failure

Explanation: A problem is detected in the fiscal unit.

User Response: Switch POWER OFF and service the fiscal printer.
