FRU removals and replacements

This section presents information and drawings for removing and replacing a FRU. Be sure to observe following general rules:

1.Do not try to service the computer unless y been trained and certified. An untrained pers the risk of damaging parts.

2.Before replacing any FRU, review “FRU replac notices” on page 33.

3.Begin by removing any FRUs that have to be removed before the failing FRU. Any such FRU listed at the top of the page. Remove them orders in which they are listed.

4.Follow the correct sequence in the steps for

the

FRU, as indicated in the drawings by t

in

square callouts.

5. When turning a screw to replace a FRU, turn direction indicated by the arrow in the dra

6. When removing the FRU, move it in the direct indicated by the arrow in the drawing.

7.To put the new FRU in place, reverse the r procedure and follow any notes that pertain t replacement. For information about connecting and arranging internal cables, see “Locations” on page 65.

8.When replacing a FRU, use the correct screw shown in the procedures.

Caution

Before removing any FRU, power off the compute unplug all power cords from electrical outlets, r the battery pack, and then disconnect any interconnecting cables.

contains small

Do

not disassemble

it, throw it

into

fire

or w

short-circuit it. Dispose of the battery pack

required by

ordinances

Attention

Before the computer is powered on after FRU replacement, make sure all screws, springs, and o small parts are in place and are not loose insi computer. Verify this by shaking the computer g and listening for rattling sounds. Metallic parts o metal flakes can cause electrical short circuits
