Standby mode

When in standby mode, the following occurs:

vThe LCD backlight turns off.

vThe hard disk motor either spins down or stops (controlled by OS).

vSuspend LED turns on.

Events that cause the computer to enter standby mode:

Note: These events depend on the Power button, Sleep button and Lid settings (options set to standby mode) in the Advancedpage of the Power Management Propertiesscreen.

vStandby requested by the Sleep button (Fn+F4)

vStandby requested by the power button

vStandby requested by closing the lid.

Events that cause the computer to exit standby mode:

vRTC alarm

vPower-on switch is operated

vFn key is pressed

vThe LCD is opened (if the system entered standby mode from closing the lid).

Note: This is true if When I close the lid of my portable computer: is set to Standby in the

Advancedpage of the Power Management Propertiesscreen.

vAn embedded modem signals the modem ring indicator

vThe battery power is at a critical level.

Display off mode

When in display off mode, the following occur:

vThe LCD backlight turns off.

Events that cause the computer to enter display off mode:

vHotkey : Fn+F3

Events that cause the computer to exit display off mode:

vAnykey or mouse operation

Hibernation mode

When in hibernation mode, the following occurs:

vThe system status, RAM, VRAM, and setup data are stored on the hard disk.

vThe system is powered off.

Events that cause the computer to enter hibernation mode:
