ŸLCD panel cracked by applying excessive force or from being dropped

ŸScratched (cosmetic) parts

ŸCracked or broken plastic parts, broken latches, broken pins, or broken connectors caused by exces- sive force

Ÿ Damage caused by liquid spilled into the system

ŸDamage caused by the improper insertion of a PC

Card or the installation of an incompatible card

Ÿ Damaged or bent PC Card eject button

ŸFuses blown by attachment of a non-supported device

ŸForgotten computer password (making the computer unusable)

The following symptoms might indicate damage caused by non-warranted activities:

ŸMissing parts might be a symptom of unauthorized service or modification.

ŸHard disk drive spindles can become noisy from being subjected to excessive force or from being dropped.

to

Disable

the Password

 

There are three passwords used

at a typical customer site:

the

Supervisor

Password, the hard

disk drive password,

and

the

Power

On password.

 

ŸPower On password:

1. Power off the computer.

2. Remove the battery pack and AC Adapter.

3.Open the keyboard and disconnect the keyboard connector from the system board, see “1030 Keyboard” on page 28.

4.Short the jumper JP1. See the following figure:
