SD memory cards

Q. The “Not formatted” or “Not initialized” error message appears when I insert an SD card, CF card or other memory card with a memory capacity exceeding 32MB into a digital camera or other device even though the card has been formatted, and I cannot use the card.

A. To format an SD card, CF card or other memory card with a memory capacity exceeding 32MB in this PC, the “FAT” file system rather than the “FAT32” file system must be selected on the Windows XP formatting screen. By formatting cards in this way, they can be used with digital cameras and other such devices.

*When a memory card is to be formatted, be absolutely sure to first back up its contents onto the PC’s hard disk, etc. When formatting is executed, all the information stored on the card will be erased.

Concerning the USB port

Q. The moving pictures or sound breaks up when capturing moving pictures or transferring high-speed data from a DVC or other device using the USB port.

A. If a device complying with the USB 1.1 Full Speed standard is used while the internal wireless LAN is being used, connect to the USB port at the back of the PC for use.

If the PC’s internal wireless LAN and front USB port are used at the same time, the USB may not be able to perform to the best of its ability.
