3Encryption

Perform the encryption (WEP security) settings for communication.

The WEP function encrypts key words and scrambles them in the transmission data. A network using a high level of security can be configured when it is activated. While the function is activated, the same WEP keys must be used by all the computers in the group. Set the WEP keys by following the steps below.

[Encryption (WEP security)]

As the WEP function setting, select “64 bit,” “128 bit” or “Not Used.”

As the WEP key input method, select [Create Keys Manually] or [Create Keys with Passphrase].

[Create Keys Manually]

Alphanumerics: 5 or 13 characters

Select this setting to designate the WEP keys using specific alphanumerics.

Set 5-character keys with the 64-bit WEP function setting and 13-character keys with the 128-bit WEP function setting.

Hexadecimal: 10 or 26 characters

Select this setting to designate the WEP keys using hexadecimal notation (0-9, A-F). Set 10-character keys with the 64-bit WEP function setting and 26-character keys with the 128-bit WEP function setting.

Key 1 to key 4

Input the WEP keys. Input the prescribed number of characters as alphanumerics or a hexadecimal character string. Up to four WEP keys can be registered. Designate the registered WEP keys (1 to 4) using [Use WEP Key].

[Create Keys with Passphrase]

This input method is used when generating the WEP keys (key 1 to key 4) using a password.

When [OK] or [Apply] is clicked, the settings are saved or changed.
