Q. The PC dials but connection is not established.

A. Check the dialing setting.

ÁCheck that the dialing type (tone or pulse) is correctly set for your telephone line. For checking and configuration procedures, see “3. Setting up the modem” on page 36.

ÁWhen no connection operation occurs, check the destination setting.

Use the following procedure to check the setting for connecting to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or network.

1.Click the [start] button and [Control Panel].

2.Click the [Network and Internet Connections] icon.

3.Click the [Network Connections] icon.

4.Right-click the icon for the destination of connection to bring up a pop-up menu. Click [Properties] in the menu.

5.Check the setting according to the instruction manual provided from your ISP.

On the [General] tab, check the “Connect using” and “Phone number” settings.

Tips

Some ISPs have different phone numbers for access points via ISDN lines from those for points via ordinary lines. Contact your ISP for details.

If your ISP specifies no DNS server address, click [Obtain DNS server address automatically].
