•Tosetapassword,dothefollowing:
a.IntheEnterNewPasswordeld,typeadesir edpasswordandpressEnter.
b.IntheConrmNewPasswordeld,retypethepasswordandpressEnter.
•Tochangeapassword,dothefollowing:
a.IntheEnterCurrentPasswordeld,typethecurrentpower-onpasswordandpressEnter.
b.IntheEnterNewPasswordeld,typethenewpower-onpasswordandpressEnter;thenretype
thepasswor dintheConrmNewPasswordeldandPressEnter.
•Toremoveapassword,dothefollowing:
a.IntheEnterCurrentPasswordeld,typethecurrentpower-onpasswordandpressEnter.
b.LeavetheEnterNewPasswordandConrmNewPasswordeldsblank.PressEntertwice.
5.ASetupNoticewindowisdisplayed.PressEntertocontinue.
6.PressF10.ASetupConrmationwindowisdisplayed.SelectYestosavethecongurationchanges
andexit.
Note:Youmightwanttorecordyourpasswordandstoreitinasafeplace.Otherwise,ifyouforgetthe

Supervisorpassword
ThesupervisorpasswordprotectsthesysteminformationstoredintheThinkPadSetupprogram.Ifyouhave
setasupervisorpassword,noonecanchangethecongurationofthecomputerwithoutthepassword.It
providesthefollowingsecurityfeatures:
•Ifonlyasupervisorpasswor disset,apasswor dpromptisdisplayedwhenyoutryt ostarttheThinkPad
Setupprogram.UnauthorizeduserscannotaccesstheThinkPadSetupprogramwithoutthepassword.
•Thesystemadministratorcanusethesupervisorpasswordtoaccessacomputereveniftheuserofthat
computerhassetapower-onpassword.Thesupervisorpasswordoverridesthepower-onpassword.
•Ifbothasupervisorpasswordandapower-onpasswordareset,youcandothefollowingonlyifyou
havethesupervisorpassword:
–Changingordeletingthepower-onpassword
–Changingordeletingthesupervisorpassword
–Changingdateandtime
–Specifyingtheminimumlengthforpower-onpasswordandharddiskpassword
