Captions Menu

For analog channels, broadcasters can send either stan- dard closed captions or text service. Standard closed captions follow the dialogue of the characters on screen and display in a small section of the screen. Text-service closed captions often contain information such as weather or news and cover a large portion of the screen.

For digital channels, broadcasters can send up to six dif- ferent captioning selections or can send analog captions that are the same as those sent by the analog station.

Each TV station may broadcast only one or two types of captions or none at all. The TV cannot decode closed captions received on component or HDMI inputs.
