Thismay occur on a 4:3 TV if the 4:3 OVERRIDE setting
isOFF. To cause 4:3 SD programmingto fill the screen,
dependingon the capabilities of the TV, set
4:3 OVERRIDEto 480i or 480p.
Thismay occur on a 16:9 TVif the active video for an SD
broadcastis in letterbox format. To confirm, wait for a
commercialor look for a graphic, such as a network logo.
Ifthe commercial fills thescreen from top to bottom,or
the graphic appearsbelow the active video, the program
is being letterboxedby t he broadcaster.You can
minimizet hisby activatingthe zoom feature on the TV.
A broadcastermay include black bars on either side of a
widescr eenbroadcast. This is called a “hybrid”aspect
ratio and resultsin a blackborder surrounding the video
on a 4:3 TV. Becausethis i s part of the broadcast,t he
DCT5100cannot correct the video. You may be able to
minimizet he borderusing the zoom feature on the TV.
