Customizing Your Phone
• Speaker — sets the volume of sound coming
out of the speaker.
•Keypad — sets the volume of sound associat ed
with pressing keys and buttons.
• Java Earpiece — sets the volume of sound
associated with Java applications coming out of
the earpiece.
• Java Speaker —sets the volume of sound
associated with Java applications coming out of
the speakers.
•Data — sets the volume of sounds that notify
you that you are receiving a circu it data call.
Security FeaturesThe Security menu lets you turn s ecurity features
on and off and change password s:
• Phone Lock —turns on a feature that locks your
phone: Lock Now takes effect immediately;
Auto Lock takes effect when your phone is
powered off and then on. An unlock code is
required to enable this feature, to unlock the
phone, and to set a new unlock code. Contact
your service provider for your default unlo ck
code.
•Keypad Lock — locks the phone’s keypa d,
either immediately or automatically after a set
period of inactivity.
• SIM PIN — enables and d isables your phone’s
SIM PIN security feature. See “Turning th e PIN
Requirement On and Off” on page 13.
• GPS PIN — enables and disa bles your phone’s
GPS PIN security feature. See “Setting the GPS
PIN Security Feature” on page 128.
• Change Passwords — changes your phone
unlock code, security code, SIM P IN, and GPS
PIN.
Advanced FeaturesThe Advanced menu contains advanced and rarel y
used Settings features.
• Alert Timeout — sets the amount of time a tone
continues to sound when you rec ei ve a
message notification, call alert, or Datebook
reminder.
• Headset/Spkr — sets the headset option. See
“Using a Headset” on pag e 153.
• Connectivity — Network ID sets the phone’s
network IDs and their roaming opti on s un de r the
direction of your service provid er ; Master Reset
lets your service provider reset your service in
the event of a security or provi sioning problem.
