2 Installation

Microphone Connection

For voice mail or speakerphone applications, plug an unamplified microphone into the MIC jack. The microphone should have a stereo 3.58mm (9/64-inch) mini plug. Do not use a monophonic microphone.

Sound Card and Speaker Connections

For voice mail or speakerphone applications, use a 3.58mm (9/64-inch) plug male- to-male stereo patch cord to connect the LINE OUT jack on the modem to the LINE IN jack on your sound card. If your sound card does not have a LINE IN jack, use its MIC jack.

This will allow you to hear modem activity whether it is originating or answering a call, or playing a recorded message. If you do not have a sound card, you can plug an amplified speaker into the LINE OUT jack.
