Press MENU once or more until the Setup
menu is displayed, then select Calibrate:
The fuel options
can be calibrated
only when the
optional single
or twin engine
kit is installed on
petrol/gasoline
engines.
Speed*
Calibration may be required becau se different
hull shapes have different flow chara cteristics.
Obtain an accurate measurement of the boa t’s
speed from a GPS receiver; or by follow ing
another boat travelling at a known spe ed; or
by making a timed run over a known distance.
Use this feature when the FISH 4432/4433
is connected to other Navman instrument s
through NavBus or any compatible NMEA
instrument.
Press MENU once or more until the Setup
menu is displayed, then select Com ms:
NMEA Out
NMEA is generally used with third pa rty
instruments. Select to transmit N MEA
sentences (see Appendix A - Specification s).
Note: for accurate calibration:
The speed from a GPS receiver should b e
greater than 5 knots.
The speed from another paddlewh eel
transducer should be between 5 an d 20
knots.
Best results are achieved in calm condit ions
where there is minimal current (best at h igh
or low tide).
Use the cursor keys to display the speed readout
box, then increase or decrease the readout to
match the independent speed value.
Speed Filter*
Increase this setting to stabilise a n erratic
speed reading. Decrease to improve readi ng
responsiveness. The speed filte r can be set
from 0 to 30 seconds.

NMEA data
Use this to specify which NMEA sentences w ill
be transmitted (see Appendix A - Spe cifications
and section 5-7 Data display, for informat ion
about how to display NMEA data).
NavBus
NavBus is the preferred method for conn ecting
the FISH 4433 to other Navman instruments.
Select if the instruments are conne cted using
NavBus.
NavBus Group
Use this when a group of Navman instrument s
are connected together using NavBus, to
specify a group of instruments f or backlighting,
if required. Then, if the backli ght setting on one
instrument in the group is adjusted, th e other
instruments change automatically. Othe rwise,
select 0.
