7. If the fishfinder beeps w hen turned on
but nothing is displayed:
The fishfinder may be operati ng, but the
backlight settings may have been set
too low. See section 2 Basic Operation ,
to adjust the fishfinder backlig ht. Press
twice to restore default backlight s ettings.
8. The wrong language is displayed :
See section 3-1 Setup > System.
9. Fuel used or remaining seem inaccurate:
a) If the engine is run while the fish finder is
powered off, the fishfinder d oes not record
the amount of fuel used during that eng ine
run. Consequently, the Fuel remaining
value will be higher than the actual a mount
of fuel remaining in the tank.
To avoid this problem, use the Auto
Power Wiring option described in se ction
6-5 Wiring options. This ensures t hat
the fishfinder powers on automati cally
whenever the boat’s ignition is switc hed on.
b) I n rough seas, fuel may sur ge back and
forth through the fuel transducer, res ulting
in incorrect readings. Try installi ng a
one-way valve between the fue l transducer
and the fuel tank.
c) The Set remaining fuel value must be
reset after every refuelling (se e section 3-3
Setup > Fuel).
d) T he fuel tank may not ref ill to the same
capacity each time due to air pockets .
This is particularly noticabl e with
underfloor tanks.
e) Fuel transducers wear out over time and
should be replaced after every 500 0 litres
of fuel.
10. Flow indicates no fuel or low fuel :
a) Check that the number of engines is se t to
1. See section 3-3 Setup > Fuel.
b) Ch eck that the fuel cable co nnectors are
securely plugged in and the collar is l ocked
in place. The collar must be locked in pla ce
to give a watertight connection.
c) A fuel transducer may be clogg ed. If so,
remove the transducer from the fuel line
and gently blow through it in the opposi te
direction to the fuel flow.
A fuel filter between the fuel t ransducer
and the fuel tank must be installed a s per
the fuel installation guide. Failure to do s o
will void the warranty.
d) I nspect the fuel ca ble from end to end for
damage such as cuts, breaks, trapp ed or
squashed sections.
e) Check that the fuel filter is clean.
11. A twin engine installa tion shows only
one flow rate:
a) Check that the number of engines is se t to
2. See section 3-3 Setup > Fuel.
12. Erratic Fuel Flow readings:
a) The fuel flow transducer may have be en
mounted too close to the fuel pump or may
be subject to excessive vibration. Ref er to
the installation instructions supplied with
the fuel transducer.
b) Ch eck for leaks in the f uel line or in the fuel
pickup in the tank.
c) The Flow filter value is not suitable for
the engine. Check that the value is not set
to zero, then try increasing the value unt il
a steady flow rate is shown. See secti on 3-3
Setup > Fuel.
d) A h igher fuel Flow filter set ting be
used on EFI (fuel injected) engines . See
section 3-3 Setup > Fuel.
13. There is no reading for fue l economy:
a) The boat must be travelling throug h the
water to generate an Economy reading.
b) Ch eck that the paddlewh eel on the
transducer is spinning freely and th at the
two magnets in the paddlewheel a re still
in place.
14. There is a double bottom t race
displayed:
a) The boat may be in an area that generates
shadows. See section 4-1 Interpretin g the
display.
b) In s hallow water, the echoes may bo unce.
Reduce the gain setting (see sec tion 4-4
Gain) and/or reduce the sonar pulse powe r
(see section 3-2 Setup > Sonar).
c) Decrease the Range.
15. No Sonar Display
Sonar is turned off. See Sectio n 3-1
System > Setup.
