4-4 Basic Configuration of the Router
Configuration using the Setup Wizard
The WebConfiguration Manager contains a Setup Wizard that can automatically determine your
network connectiontype. If the Setup Wizard does not launch automatically,click on the Setup
Wizardheading in the upper left of the opening screen, shown in Figure 4-2.
When the Wizardlaunches, allow the router to automatically determine your connectiontype by
selectingYes in the menu below and clicking Next:
The Setup Wizardwill now check for a connection on the Internet port. If the Setup Wizard
determinesthat there is no connection to the Internet port, you will be prompted to check the
physicalconnection between your router and cable or DSL modem. When the connection is
properlymade, the router’s Internet LED should be on.
Next, theSetup Wizard will attempt to determine which of the following connection types
your Internetservice account uses:
• DynamicIP assignment
• Fixed IP addressassignment
• A login protocolsuch as PPPoE
The SetupWizard will report which connection type it has discovered, and it will then use the
appropriateconfiguration menu for that connection type.
