Step 4 Focus and Shoot

The Basics of Shooting and Playback

1Press the shutter-release button

halfway (A31).

When the subject is in focus, the focus area indicator in the center of the frame glows green. You can change the focus mode setting to Target finding AF (A74), which allows the camera to detect the main subject and focuses on that subject.

When you are using digital zoom, the camera

focuses on the subject in the center of the frame and the focus area is not displayed. When the camera has focused, the focus indicator (A6)

glows green.

While the shutter-release button is pressed halfway, the focus area or focus indicator may

flash red. This indicates that the camera is unable to focus. Modify the composition and press the shutter-release button halfway again.

2Press the shutter-release button the rest of the way down (A31).

The shutter is released and the image will be saved to the

memory card or internal memory.

3To apply an effect to the captured image, tap OK.

The screen for selecting an effect is displayed. See “Using Quick Effects” (A39) for more information.

When you tap Cancel or when no operations are performed for about five seconds, the monitor display returns to the shooting screen.

To not display the screen shown on the right, set Quick effects to Off (A69).
