Connecting through a serial port

1Connect the WLAN Application Gateway 2246 to the serial port of a terminal or PC using a DB-9 female, null-modem cable. See Figure 19.

2Run a terminal emulation program (such as HyperTerminal™), or use a VT-100 terminal with the following configuration:

Bits per second: 9600

Data bits: 8

Parity: None

Stop bits: 1

Flow control: None

Note: If using Windows 2000, Service Pack 2 must be installed to enable the use of HyperTerminal™.

3Reset the system.

The following appears on the terminal:

04830130

4Type the following command using the terminal or PC keyboard:

0255CC [CTRL M] [CTRL J]

The command does not display on the screen as it is typed.

The login screen appears. If an error was made when entering the command string, the message “Ill Formed Packet” appears. It appears as a series of numbers followed by some form of the typed command. If this occurs, repeat Step 3 and Step 4.
