Initializing a Nortel Networks M5317TDX terminal

Step Action

The following is an example of the steps to initialize an M5317TDX terminal. Table 19 "M5317TDX terminal error codes" (page 81) lists and describes error codes that can appear during terminal initialization. Additional information is contained in the M5317TDX user guide.

1Set the switch on the bottom of the terminal for either line power or local power.

2Plug in the M5317TDX terminal.

3Press and hold down the RLS and HOLD keys as the terminal powers up.

4Press MAINROM.

5Press INSTALL.

6Press ENGLISH or FRANCAIS for your choice of language.

7Press the soft key of the TEI you want to set PHONE, DATA or X25.

8Enter * for dynamic TEI.

9Enter the TEI on the terminal keypad for static TEI.

10Press OK when you have finished setting the TEIs.

11Enter the phone (voice) SPID. Press OK when finished.

12Enter the data SPID. Press OK when finished.

13Enter the data DN. Press OK when finished.

14Press HEADSET until REAR displays.

15Press SIGTYPE until MER1 displays.

16Press A/MU until MU-LAW displays.

17Press MORE.

18Press DIALPLN until NATIONAL displays.

19Press EXIT.

20Press NO to execute SPM.
