connectors in the second expansion cabinet" (page 69) on Figure 22 "Cable connectors in the second expansion cabinet" (page 69).

3Tag both ends of each cable with the cabinet or MG 1000S and connector numbers.

4Route cables down through the opening at the bottom of the cabinet or MG 1000S.

5Plug in the cables to the connector.

6Replace the retaining bar after you have connected all cables to the cabinet or MG 1000S.

7Terminate the 25-pair cables at the cross-connect terminal.

8Label the cross-connect terminal for each connector.

Figure 24 "SILC port designation label at the cross-connect terminal" (page 69) and Figure 25 "UILC port designation label at the cross-connect terminal" (page 70) on Figure 25 "UILC port designation label at the cross-connect terminal" (page 70) show the label used with the BIX cross-connecting system.

Cross-connecting DSLs Each SILC provides eight four-wire, full-duplex ports. These ports connect to the trunk wiring facilities (typically cabling or wiring from outside the building) to form DSLs. Since the DSLs are polarity-sensitive, maintain signal polarity along each loop as shown

in Figure 30 "Cross-connecting an SILC port" (page 84) on Figure 30 "Cross-connecting an SILC port" (page 84).

Each UILC provides eight two-wire full-duplex ports. These ports connect to twisted pair trunk wiring facilities to form DSLs, as shown in Figure 31 "Cross-connecting a UILC port" (page 85). The DSLs are not polarity-sensitive and it is not necessary to maintain signal polarity along each loop.

Procedure 26

Cross-connecting DSLs at the cross-connect terminal

Step Action

To cross-connect SILC and/or UILC ports to the trunk wiring facilities:

1Identify the card type (SILC or UILC) at the cross-connect terminal.

2Identify transmit and receive pins on the top of the labeled distribution strip for the card type you are connecting.
