If the primary reference clock is derived from a BRI DSL, then the CC daughterboard is on the MISP associated with that line card. DSL0 of that line card is used to generate the reference clock.

To use a DTI/PRI as a secondary clock source reference, the clock controller daughterboard must reside on a DTI, PRI, or MISP. The clock is extracted from the target DTI/PRI span and routed to the clock controller over the back plane.

To use a BRI DSL as a secondary clock source reference, the clock controller daughterboard must reside on a DTI/PRI or an MISP. The clock is extracted from DSL1 of the source line card and routed over the backplane to the CC.

Procedure 17

Installing the SILCs and UILCs

Step Action

1Remove the cover from the assigned system.

ATTENTION

IMPORTANT!

Wear the static discharge bracelet located inside the cabinet or MG 1000S before handling circuit cards. Failure to wear the bracelet can damage the circuit cards.

2Remove the SILC or UILC from its shipping package and hold it by its card locking devices.

3Insert the SILC or UILC into the selected card slot and lock it in place.

4Use the jumper plugs to configure the line powering options for the SILC. Each port is equipped with its own set of option jumper plugs, enabling individual configurations for each DSL.

The SILC has three line powering options. These options are configured using the jumpers located near the backplane connector as shown in Figure 16 "SILC line power options" (page 62).
