MAS fault management

Every alarm is assigned one of the following severities:

Critical

Major

Minor

Warning

Optionally, you can configure alarms to be sent as SNMP traps when alarms are raised or cleared, which is described in SNMP management (page 36). A network management station can use SNMP to poll the platform to determine which alarms are active.

To view active alarms, use the Nortel MAS Console. The following table describes the information that you can view for each alarm.

Field

Description

Alarm ID

A globally unique identifier assigned to the alarm. In addition a

colored icon represents the alarm severity. Red indicates Critical

and yellow represents all other alarms.

Name

Descriptive text associated with the alarm.

Severity

The severity of the alarm, which can be one of the following (listed

from most to least severe): Critical, Major, Minor, and Warning.

Timestamp

Timestamp of when the alarm was raised. You can configure
