16Chapter 1 Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) Overview

The UPS device is supported in all markets (110~120V and 220~240V power standards). All BCMs using version 3.5 software or higher can use the UPS device.

BCM and UPS power and control connections

The UPS device operates in parallel with the BCM 200, 400, and 1000. The BCM obtains power through the UPS. The UPS obtains power from a conventional AC power source.

The UPS meets BCM power delivery requirements for 110~120 and 220~240 Volt standards. The BCM operational power usage range (shown in the following table) is compatible with the UPS operating range.

The serial connection between the BCM and UPS provides power monitoring and control capability. The UPS service uses standard RS232 serial protocol. Figure 2 shows the physical BCM connections and OAM topology.
