Choose an image mode, which is the combination of image size and image quality (compression), according to how you plan to use the picture and the capacity of the internal memory or memory card.

The larger the image, the larger the size at which it can be printed or displayed without becoming noticeably “grainy,” limiting the number of pictures that can be recorded.

	(default setting)		The best choice in most situations. The

L	Normal (2592)	2,592×1,944
	Normal (2048)		Smaller size allows more pictures to be
M		2,048×1,536	stored. The compression ratio is
			approximately 1:8.
N	PC screen (1024)	1,024×768	Suited to display on computer monitor. The
			compression ratio is approximately 1:8.
	TV screen (640)		Suited to full-screen display on a television
O		640×480	or distribution by e-mail. The compression
			ratio is approximately 1:8.
	16:9 (3968)		Pictures with an aspect ratio of 16:9 can be
p		3,968×2,232	taken. The compression ratio is
			approximately 1:8.

The icon for the current setting is displayed in the monitor in shooting and playback modes (A6, 7).

CImage Mode settings for Sport Continuous mode and High Sensitivity mode

•The image mode setting for sport continuous mode (A48) and high sensitivity mode (A50) can be chosen from M Normal (2048) (default setting), N PC screen (1024), O TV screen (640) or m 16:9 (1920) (Image size 1,920×1,080, compression ratio is approximately 1:8).

•The image mode setting for sport continuous mode and high sensitivity mode is saved and unaffected by image mode settings for other shooting modes.
