EISO Sensitivity

Set to A (Auto) M d (Shooting menu) M E ISO sensitivity

Sensitivity is a measure of how quickly the camera reacts to light. The higher the sensitivity, the less light needed to make an exposure. Although a high ISO rating is suited for taking pictures of subjects in action or in poor lighting, high sensitivity is often associated with “noise” -randomly spaced, brightly colored pixels concentrated in dark parts of the image.

Auto (default setting)

Sensitivity is ISO 64 in bright places; in dark places the camera automatically raises sensitivity to a maximum of ISO 800.

Fixed range auto

Choose the range in which the camera automatically adjusts ISO sensitivity, from ISO 64-200(default setting), or ISO 64-400. The camera will not raise sensitivity beyond the maximum value in the selected range. Set the maximum value for ISO sensitivity for effective control over the amount of “grain” that appears in images.

64, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200, 6400

ISO Sensitivity will be locked at the specified value.

When ISO sensitivity is locked, Motion detection (A132) does not function even when Auto is selected.

At settings other than Auto, the current setting is displayed in the monitor (A6). If Auto is selected and the sensitivity is raised above an ISO 64, the Eicon will be displayed (A31). If Fixed range auto is selected, U+ the maximum value for ISO sensitivity will be displayed.

BNotes on ISO 3200 and 6400

When 3200 or 6400 is selected for ISO sensitivity, the image mode mark on the screen will be displayed in red during shooting.

When 3200 or 6400 is selected for ISO sensitivity, Image mode cannot be set to H High (4000P), I Normal (4000), R Normal (3264), L Normal (2592) and p 16:9 (3968).

At these image mode settings, selecting 3200 or 6400 for ISO sensitivity automatically switches the Image mode setting to M Normal (2048). When any option other than 3200 or 6400 is selected for ISO sensitivity, the original Image mode setting is restored.
