Shooting in Scene Mode

By simply framing a picture, the camera automatically selects the optimum scene mode. See “Shooting in the Scene Mode Selected by the Camera (Scene Auto Selector)” (A42) for more information.

Shooting Suited for the Scenes

bPortrait

Use this mode for taking portraits in which the main subject stands out clearly. Portrait subjects exhibit smooth, natural- looking skin tones.

•The camera detects and focuses on a face looking toward the camera (see “Shooting with Face Priority” (A112) for more information).

•If the camera detects a smiling face of the subject, the smile indicator increases or decreases.

•If the camera recognizes multiple faces, the camera locks the focus on the face nearest to the center of the frame.

•If no face is recognized, the camera will focus on the subject in the center of the frame.

•Digital zoom is not available.

cLandscape

Use this mode for vivid landscapes and cityscapes.

•Camera focuses at infinity. When the shutter-release button is pressed halfway, the focus area or focus indicator (A6) always lights green; however, focus may not be set for near subjects, while the camera focuses at infinity.

•AF-assist illuminator does not light regardless of the AF assist (A133) setting.
