[AF Mode]

Applicable modes:

This allows the focusing method that suits the positions and number of the subjects to be selected.

		Settings	Description of settings
			The camera automatically detects the person’s face. (max.
[š]		([Face Detection])	15 areas) The focus and exposure can then be adjusted to fit that
			face no matter what portion of the picture it is in.
[	]	([AF Tracking])¢	Focus can be adjusted to a specified subject. Focus will keep on
			following the subject even if it moves. (Dynamic tracking)
			Up to 23 points for each AF area can be focused. This is effective
[	]	([23-Area])¢	when the subject is not in the centre of the screen.
			(AF area frame will be same as image aspect ratio setting.)
[Ø]		([1-Area])	The camera focuses on the subject in the AF area on the centre of
			the screen.
[Ù]		([Spot])¢	The camera focuses on a limited narrow area in the screen.

¢[Ø] will be used during motion picture recording.

•[AF Mode] is fixed to [Ø] in the following cases.

–[Miniature Effect] (Creative Control Mode)

–[Starry Sky] (Scene Mode)

•It will be fixed to [š] when the [Face Recog.] is set to [ON].

•It is not possible to set [š] in the following cases.

–[Soft Focus] (Creative Control Mode)

–Panorama Shot Mode

–[Night Scenery]/[Handheld Night Shot]/[Food] (Scene Mode)

•[ ] cannot be set in the following conditions.

–[Sepia]/[Dynamic Monochrome]/[High Dynamic]/[Toy Effect]/[Soft Focus] (Creative Control Mode)

–Panorama Shot Mode

–[B&W]/[SEPIA] ([Color Mode])
