Standby mode:

While the handset is off the base unit, the handset goes into the standby mode after you finish using it (making/answering a call, viewing the Caller List or directory list etc.). While the handset is on the base unit, the battery icon and the number of new Caller ID calls are displayed in the standby mode (p. 25).

Backlit LCD Displays

Both the handset and the base unit have a backlit LCD display. Each display will light when the handset or the base unit is used, and when a call is received. The handset display light will stay on for about 10 seconds after pressing a button or lifting the handset off the base unit. The base unit display light will go out after use.

You can change the backlight colour to orange for certain callers if their details are stored in the directory (p. 35).
