Problem

The base unit does not ring.

I cannot make a call.

I cannot make long distance calls.

Cause/solution

R The ringer volume is turned off. Adjust the ringer volume (page 14).

R The dialing mode may be set incorrectly. Change the setting (page 12).

R The handset is too far from the base unit. Move closer and try again.

R Make sure that you have long distance service.

Caller ID/Talking Caller ID

Problem

Caller information is not displayed.

Caller information is displayed or announced late.

Caller information is not announced.

The caller list/incoming phone numbers are not edited automatically.

I cannot dial the phone number edited in the caller list.

Time on the unit has shifted.

Cause/solution

R You must subscribe to Caller ID service. Contact your service provider/telephone company for details.

R If your unit is connected to any additional telephone equipment such as a Caller ID box or cordless telephone line jack, plug the unit directly into the wall jack.

R If you use a DSL/ADSL service, we recommend connecting a DSL/ADSL filter between the base unit and the telephone line jack. Contact your DSL/ADSL provider for details.

R The name display service may not be available in some areas. Contact your service provider/telephone company for details.

R Other telephone equipment may be interfering with this unit. Disconnect the other equipment and try again.

R Depending on your service provider/telephone company, the unit may display or announce the caller’s information at the 2nd ring or later.

R Move closer to the base unit.

R The base unit or handset’s ringer volume is turned off. Adjust it (page 14, 22).

R The Talking Caller ID feature is turned off. Turn it on (page 22).

R The number of rings for the answering system is set to 2 ringsor Toll saver. Select a different setting (page 34).

R If the base unit and another handset are having an intercom call, your handset does not announce caller information.

R The Caller ID number auto edit feature is turned off. Turn it on and try again (page 23).

R You need to call back the edited number to activate Caller ID number auto edit.

R The phone number you dialed might have been edited incorrectly (for example, the long distance “1” or the area code is missing). Edit the phone number with another pattern (page 29).

R Incorrect time information from incoming Caller ID changes the time. Set the time adjustment to Manual(off)

(page 22).
