Installing the battery pack

To install a battery, follow the steps below.

nThe battery pack is a lithium ion battery, which can explode if not properly

replaced, used, handled or disposed of. Dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations. Use only batteries recommended by TOSHIBA as replacements.

nDo not touch the battery release latch while holding the computer or the battery pack might fall out due to the unintentional release of the battery release latch and cause injuries.

1.Turn the computer’s power off.

2.Disconnect all cables connected to the computer.

3.Insert the battery pack.

4.Ensure the battery pack lock is moved into its locked position.

Starting the computer by password

To start up the computer with the user password, follow these steps:

1.Turn on the power as described in Chapter 3, Getting Started. The following message appears:

Password=

At this point, the hotkeys Fn + F1 to F9 do not work. They will function after you enter the password.
