Compensating for Flash Output

You can change the flash output in a range of -2.0 to +1.0. The flash compensation values are as follows for 1/3 EV and 1/2 EV.

Set interval of steps in [1. EV Steps] (p.120) of the [ACustom Setting 1] menu.

3 BasicOperations

1 Turn the rear e-dial (S) in the [Flash Mode] screen.

The flash compensation value is displayed.

Press the button to reset the flash output compensation value to 0.0.

The flash output compensation cannot be set in B(Green) mode.

Nappears in the viewfinder and on the LCD panel during the flash exposure compensation. (p.35, p.37)

When the flash output exceeds its maximum amount, the compensation will not be effective even if the compensation value is set to the plus (+) side.

Compensating to the minus (-) side may not affect the image if the subject is too close, the aperture value is small or the sensitivity is high.

The flash output compensation is also effective for external flash units which support P-TTL auto flash mode.

Enabling Shooting while Charging the Flash

You can set the camera to enable shooting while the flash is being charged.

Set [20. Release While Charging] to [On] in the [ACustom Setting 3] menu (p.92). By default, pictures cannot be taken while the built-in flash is charging.
