Using the Bluetooth Settings Menu

The Bluetooth Settings menu allows you to set up many of the characteristics of your device’s Bluetooth service, including:

Entering or changing the name your device uses for Bluetooth communication

Setting your device’s visibility (or “discoverability”) for other Bluetooth devices

To access the Bluetooth Settings screen:

1.Press the Power button, select Wireless Manager and press .

2.Highlight the Bluetooth field and press Menu (right softkey) > Bluetooth Settings.

Note: Another way to navigate to the Bluetooth Settings screen is Start > More > More > Settings > Connections > Bluetooth.

3.Press Menu (right softkey) to set your Bluetooth options.

Select Turn Off Bluetooth to disable Bluetooth. If Bluetooth is already turned off, this option will be Turn On Bluetooth.

Select Turn On Visibility to make your device visible to other Bluetooth-enabled devices. If visibility is already turned on, this option will be Turn Off Visibility.

Select COM Ports to set up a COM port (after pairing with a device) by pressing Menu (right softkey) > New Outgoing Port.

About Discoverability (Visibility)

Making your device discoverable (visible) allows other devices to detect it when they search for in-range Bluetooth-compatible devices. Your device must be turned on and the built-in Bluetooth radio must also be turned on and discoverable. To turn on your device's visibility, see step 3 in "To access the Bluetooth Settings screen:" on page 97.
