Connections
Connecting to an Audio Device
using an Optical (Digital) or a Headphone Connection
Available devices: digital audio system, amplifier, DVD home theatre, PC
DIGITaL auDIO OuT (OPTICaL)

When a Digital Audio System is conn ected to the DIGITaL auDIO OuT (OPTICaL) j ack, decrease the volume of
both the TV and the system.

5.1 CH (channel) audio is available when the TV is c onnected to an external devic e supporting 5.1 CH.

When the receiver (home theatre) is se t to on, you can hear sound output from th e TV’s optical jack. When the TV
is receiving a DTV signal, the T V will send 5.1 CH sound to the home theatre receiver. When the s ource is a digital
component such as a DVD / Blu-ray player / c able box / STB (Set-Top-Box) satellite receiver and is conne cted to the
TV via HDMI, only 2 CH audio will be h eard from the home theatre receiv er. If you want to hear 5.1 CH audio, connect
the digital audio out jack from your DVD / B lu-ray player / cable box / STB satellite re ceiver directly to an amplifi er or
home theatre.
Headphones

: You can connect your headphones to the head phones output on your set. While th e headphones are
connected, the sound from the built-in sp eakers will be disabled.

Sound function may be restricted wh en connecting headphone s to the TV.

Headphone volume and TV volum e are adjusted separately.
