BELT TENSION ADJUSTMENT

OPERATION

BELT TENSION ADJUSTMENT

The belt tension must be adjusted properly to prevent the belt from slipping. To adjust the belt tension, loosen the jam nut and tighten the nuts on the Tensioning Rod until each belt can be depressed 1/2" when a force of 11 pounds is applied to the belt at a point midway between the pulleys (See Figure 14). An Access Hole (V) is provided in the belt shield to check belt tension (See Figure 15).

Figure 15

NOTE: It is very important that the belt tension be checked during the first few hours of operation and periodically thereafter.

Operating with the cutter bar inclined up or down.

The disc mower can be operated at an angle of up to 45 degrees above horizontal or up to 30 degrees below horizontal for periods of no more than 30 minutes. The cutter bar must then be operated in the horizontal position for approximately 25-30 minutes before resuming inclined operation. This will allow complete covering of all components with lubricant which had drained away from some parts during inclined operation. (See Figure 16.)
