stopped. Disconnect the spark plug
wire before performing service or
maintenance.

Spark Plug

Keep the spark plug and wire connections
tight and clean.

Fasteners

Make sure nuts, bolts, and screws (except
carburetor adjusting screws) are tight.

This unit must never be operated with
a faulty or missing spark arrester or
muffler. Make sure the muffler is well
secured and in good condition. A worn or
damaged muffler is a fire hazard and may
also cause hearing loss.

General maintenance

NOTE:
Using non-standard replacement
parts could invalidate your Shindaiwa
warranty.
Lubricate the cutters with oil before
Ŷuse, and after refueling.
Check the cutters for damage and make
Ŷsure all bolts are tight.
Check for loose, damaged, or missing
Ŷcomponents, and repair as necessary.
Remove all grass clippings and dirt
Ŷfrom the hedge trimmer.
Remove any compacted debris from
Ŷaround the fuel tank and/or muffler.
Inspect cooling system. Check cooling
Ŷair intake area at base of crankcase.
Remove all debris. Dirt build-up in
these areas can lead to engine overheat-
ing, fire, or premature wear.
Clean under the cylinder over and
Ŷaround the spark plug.
Inspect the air filter element for clog-
Ŷging, clean as necessary.
Check for fuel leaks.
