DV SP ()

Record in the SP (Standard Play) mode of the DV format to record for a longer time on a tape than in the DVCAM format.

If you record in the DV SP mode, a mosaic-like disturbance of picture may appear or sound may be interrupted when you play back the tape on other camcorders or VCRs.

When you mix recordings in the DVCAM mode and in the DV SP mode on one tape, the playback picture may be distorted or the time code may not be continued properly between the scenes.

DV WIDE REC

You can select the aspect ratio for recording according to a type of your TV. Refer also to the instruction manuals supplied with your TV.

Records pictures in the size that matches the full screen of a 16:9 (wide) TV.OFF ()Records pictures in the size that matches the full screen of a 4:3 TV.

Set [DOWN CONVERT] correctly according to the TV connected for playback (p. 84).

When you select HDV format, the image size is fixed to 16:9. You cannot record in 4:3 size.

EXT REC CTRL

You can connect your camcorder to an HDV/DVCAM/DV compatible device (digital HD video camera recorder, digital video camera recorder, hard disc recorder, etc.) with an i.LINK cable, and record movies on your camcorder and the connected device simultaneously, or continue recording from your camcorder to the connected device.

Refer also to the instruction manual supplied with the devices that you are connecting.

Select to record movies, sound and time code on a connected device in synchronization with your camcorder.

RELAY ( )

Select to record movies, sound and time code on a connected device when a tape on your camcorder reaches close to the end during recording.

Select to be able to stop recording on a connected device and set it to REC PAUSE using the recording stop operation of your camcorder.

STOP

Select to be able to stop recording on a connected device by setting it to STOP using the recording stop operation of your camcorder.

COMPONENT

You can select the type of connection when connecting your camcorder to a TV with the component input jack.
