Striped noise during playback/

This is caused by video head interference. Keep your VCR away from the media

recording of a VCR

receiver unit.

 

Leave a space of 30 cm (11 7/8 inches) between your VCR and the media receiver

 

unit to avoid noise.

 

Avoid installing your VCR in front of the media receiver unit or at the side of the

 

media receiver unit.

 

 

Audio

Good picture, no sound

Press MUTING so that Muting disappears from the screen (see page 62).

 

Make sure the Speaker option is set to On in the Audio menu (see page 115).

 

Make sure the MTS option is set to Stereo or Mono (see page 115).

 

Make sure the speakers are connected correctly (see page 53).

 

When the HDMI IN input is in use, surround sound, such as AC-3 and DTS,

 

cannot be input. Change the sound setting for the external input device to Linear

 

PCM.

 

Make sure the Center Speaker In option is set to Off when you are not using the

 

TV's speakers as a center speaker (see page 115).

 

 

Audio noise

Communication problems may occur if infrared communication equipment (e.g.,

 

infrared cordless headphones) is used near the TV. Please use headphones other

 

than infrared cordless headphones. Also, if you use infrared communication

 

equipment other than infrared cordless headphones, move the infrared transceiver

 

away from the TV until the noise is eliminated, or move the transmitter and

 

receiver of the infrared communication equipment closer together.

 

 

Cannot gain enough volume

Increase the volume of the cable box using the cable box’s remote control. Then

when using a cable box

press FUNCTION repeatedly until the TV indicator lights up and adjust the TV’s

 

volume.

 

 

Sound seems weak or

The TV’s audio might be set to Auto SAP or Mono, when it might be better set to

insufficient

Stereo. In the Audio menu (see page 115), set the MTS setting to Stereo. If

 

already set to Stereo, switch to Mono (which may reduce background noise

 

during weak stereo broadcasts).

Cannot raise the volume on external speakers

If the Audio Out option is set to Fixed, use your audio receiver to adjust the sound (see page 115). Or, to use the TV remote control, set the Audio Out option to Variable.

To turn on the TV speakers, set the Speaker option to On (see page 115).

Although the Center Speaker In option is set to On, the TV speakers do not output sound

Make sure to connect the center speaker output jack of an audio device, such as an AV amplifier, to the CENTER SPEAKER IN jack on the rear of the media receiver unit.

Make sure the connected audio device is not muted.

Make sure you are watching a program on TV or DVD that has center-channel sound.
