Troubleshooting (Windows® 98 systems)
Installing a peripheral device with audio functions may call the
Windows® 
controller.
To deactivate the Windows® controller and delete the icon 
:
1 Select My Computer from the Start menu
2 Select Control Panel
3 Open Multimedia
4 In the Audio tab, uncheck the box Show volume control on Task Bar.
About the modem
My internal modem doesn’t work
Check that the phone line is plugged into your computer. | |
Check that the phone line is working. You can check the line by plugging in an | |
| ordinary phone and listening for a dial tone. |
Check that the phone number the program is dialing is correct. | |
In the Modems Properties dialog (Control Panel / Modems), check that your | |
| modem is listed on the General tab, and that the Dialing Properties are correct. |
If you connect a GSM phone, make sure that it is compatible with the internal | |
| modem. |
My Modem Cannot Establish a Connection
The modem dialing mode may be incompatible with your telephone line.
To verify the modem settings, see “Configuring the modem for use” in your Software
Guide.
