To set the timer for your computer to automatically enter Standby mode after a certain amount of time, | ||||
User | go to Performance and Maintenance in the Control Panel and open Power Options. | |||
To activate Standby mode manually, use one of these two methods: | ||||

1 | Save your work, close all applications and close your Internet connection, if applicable. | |||

VAIO | 2 | Press the Standby | button at the top of the keyboard. | |

Sony | Use the Windows® taskbar: | |||

| 2 | From the Start menu on the Windows® taskbar, select Turn Off Computer. | ||

| Alternatively, press <Alt>+<F4> to get to the same dialog box. | ||

If you press the power button for more than four seconds, the computer will switch off automatically.
When the computer is in Standby mode, you cannot insert a disc or floppy disk.
Standby requires less time than Hibernate.
Standby uses more power than Hibernate.
