DEC. EROR
Appears when a signal the receiver cannot decode is input and “DEC.” is set to “DEC. PCM”. In this case, set to “DEC. AUTO” (page 28).
PROTECT
•Irregular current is output from the speakers. Turn off the power and check the speaker connections, then turn on the power again.
•When the speaker impedance is set to 8 ohms, try setting it to 4 ohms (page 12). Depending on the speaker, the actual impedance level may be less than the nominal impedance (8 ohms). In this case, “PROTECT” is activated at a lower volume level.
•Turn off the power of the receiver, wait until the internal temperature of the unit cools sufficiently (about 10 minutes), then turn on the power again. The protection circuitry may be activated when the internal temperature of the unit rises.
•If you cannot solve the problem by following the remedies listed above, consult your nearest Sony dealer.
